The corporation is organized and shall be operated exclusively for improvement of the conditions of those employed as Wisconsin Troopers, Inspectors and Police Communication Operators, including supervisors (first line supervisors through superintendent) and retirees, the development of a higher degree of efficiency in such occupation and foster activities which promote law enforcement and public safety and the good of the community. |

| Hometown Heroes Survivors Benefit Act of 2003
President Bush signed the "Hometown Heroes Survivors Benefit Act of 2003" on December 15, 2003. That act extends the federal death benefits under the Public Safety Officer's Survivor Benefits Program to officers who die from a heart attack or stroke suffered within 24 hours of non-routine stressful or strenuous on-duty activity. We've known for years that law enforcement takes a great toll on an officer's physical health, and it is encouraging to see the federal government recognizing that an officer does not have to die violently to be a victim.
